Lower Antelope Canyon and Wahweap Campground in Page, Utah (Post # 44)

August 2-3
I'll let these pictures speak for themselves, even though they don't do the Lower Antelope Canyon justice.  There is an Upper Antelope Canyon, too, but we were told that it isn't quite as beautiful as this one and not as long of a hike.

The picture below shows where we came up out of the canyon.  That little white speck in the bottom left hand corner is someone's head.  Looking at this from above you'd never guess all this beauty was below there.  We were blessed to be able to do this hiking tour today because yesterday they had to close the canyon and evacuate everyone.  A storm with rain had come up and there was a chance of flash flooding.  When we came out of the canyon today, the storm clouds were forming, so we were very thankful to have had beautiful weather.

This is our tour guide, Giovanni.  He'd only been working here for four days, but he was very good!

We were very hot and tired when we were through with our hiking tour, and hungry!  We went into Page and parked in the Walmart parking lot and took a shower.  Yep!  You can do that sort of thing with an RV.  Then we had lunch at Denny's.  The rest of the afternoon and the next day we spent just relaxing.  The pictures below were taken from right outside the RV at our camp site.  It was so amazing to sit outside and watch the colors changing on Lake Powell.

What a difference it makes when the clouds come across the sun.

And a beautiful sunset to end our stay here.

Tomorrow we're headed for the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.  All this beauty reminds me of a line in a song, "To God be the glory, great things He has done."
