New England/Canada Trip, Sept. 20-23, 2019

Drive and visit in Bar Harbor, Maine

We left early enough from NH that the sun had not risen above the mountains yet, just casting it's rays and warmth on the trees only on one side of the road. We're headed to Bar Harbor, Maine.

At first I thought this was a gaggle of geese, but it wasn't.  It was a "rafter" of wild turkeys.  Yes, that's what a group of turkeys is called. (I had to look it up. lol)

Yes, more church pictures.  You guys should know me well enough by now to know that there will always be pictures of churches and old barns.

At first glance this may look like just any other church, but look closely.  It's a miniature.  It was easy to see that in real life, but harder in a photo.  Compare it to the utility pole and you can tell.

We made a stop in Bangor, ME, to meet some good friends of ours from our Navy days in Cape Hatteras.  Ray and Nancy Emery met us for lunch at a local restaurant, and then we visited a while in Little House (our motorhome).  It was such a good visit, and we enjoyed catching up with them.
We wish it could have been a longer visit.

We stayed at Timberland Acres RV Park in Trento just outside of Bar Harbor.  And yes, we're having a great fall, too!
The next day we parked Little House at the Visitor Center at Acadia National Park and took the bus to downtown Bar Harbor.  We've visited here before, but we love this area.

The bus driver that drove us through Acadia highly recommended we eat lunch at the Thirsty Whale downtown.  It was very good seafood, but that's to be expected in Bar Harbor!
We also did a little shopping downtown.  We are not big time shoppers,
so we like to sit during our shopping excursions, too.

Enjoying the beauty of the town.

And, of course, the harbor.

The next day we drove to Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse.

You can get just a peek of it from this picture.

It involved a hike because RV's were not allowed to drive all the way to the lighthouse.  But it was a beautiful short hike, only about a mile one way.

There was actually NO parking lot at all for RVs, so we had to park on the side of the road and hike from there.  We were just on the other side of a driveway to an RV park though, and they were kind enough to allow us to park there.

Such a beautiful place and a lovely day.  We drove back through Acadia National Park one last time.  Now for a good night's rest before we head out in the morning for the Canadian border.
