Drive from Bosque, NM, to Amarillo, TX.
It's a beautiful morning and the sun is just topping the mountains as we prepare to leave our one-night site and head toward Amarillo, Texas.Today is our oldest daughter's birthday. We hope she has a wonderful day!
When we left the park we took Hwy 60 over to Hwy 54--backroads again. The first one was definitely rough and the speed limit was 55, but that was ok with us. Hwy 54 was a little better and we could go a little faster.
Then we got onto I-40, which is our usual route. Most of the pictures that follow we could probably so back to previous blogs and find the same pictures. We've traveled this road many, many times.
We've learned to "double dip". Paul is a big fan of Rudy's--me, not so much. But we both like the Big Texan. So we stop at Rudy's and buy the brisket he likes for him to eat later and some to take home. Then we go to the Big Texan and go in to eat.
This isn't a bad park, but I'm glad we're here only one night. The sites are a little close for my liking. But it's a safe place it seems, and the noise from I-25 isn't too bad. Mostly all the parks in New Mexico have very little to no grass. I'm thankful for the trees and the grapevines that separated each site.

This is a familiar site, the picture above and below! There is construction and roads like the one above every where we go. And the cotton bales below look just like the ones at home.
Saying goodbye to New Mexico one more time. This is what is known as Cadillac Ranch.
It's an art sculpture near Amarillo created in 1974 by three men who were part of the art group, Ant Farm. There are ten Cadillacs buried nose-first in the ground. It's a big tourist attraction.
Personally, I don't get it. lol Interesting, maybe. But in all the times we've passed here, we've never stopped and hiked out to see them or climb on them. I guess we've been missing out. (NOT)

After lunch we did a FaceTime call with Autumn to wish her a happy birthday, and then it was back through Amarillo traffic to our park, Route 66 RV Park.
It's been a lovely day. Tomorrow we're heading to another favorite park of ours,
Lake Eufaula State Park in Checotah, Oklahoma. Until tomorrow . . .
