Western Trip 2020, Oct. 16

 October 16, 2020

Drive from Amarillo, TX, to Lake Eufaula State Park, OK.

This was the view as we got ready to roll this morning.  The southwest really does have some beautiful sunsets and sunrises.
Amarillo is already very busy even this early in the morning.

These windmills in the soft glow of the morning light almost look like something out of a science fiction movie.  Even though these windmills are a little more modern, they remind me of the book, Don Quixote.

We always like to stop in Groom, Texas at "The Cross".  If you've read the blog in times past, I know you've seen this many times.  We didn't visit all the "Stations of the Cross" this trip, though.  It was 37 degrees and windy!  Just look at the magnificence of that cross!

This leaning water tower not far from Groom always makes me chuckle.
And the road goes on and on . . .

Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and now Oklahoma in two days.  Oklahoma is a beautiful state, but it seems to me that the stretch of it along I-40 is very monotonous and undramatic.  Just lots of open range, cows, and fields. No offense, Oklahoma, just my opinion.

How'd you like to travel in this little rig?

Another side trip we like is in Yukon, OK, home of the Clydesdales.
We knew the barn was closed except by appointment only, but we decided to go down to see if the horses were out in the corral. We weren't disappointed.

We put the slide out, made our lunch, and sat and watched the horses as we ate.

                      Another beautiful barn.

                                                                           Oklahoma City

Lake Eufaula State Park, OK, and Dogwood Drive, our home for the night.
This is a beautiful state park with lots of trees. And this time, there's lots of people! I guess they are trying to get more camping trips in before it gets so cold, or they're just tired of "sheltering at home".  I know there's been a boom of interest in RVing and camping this year.
It's been a long day on the road but a good day.  Tomorrow it's on to West Memphis, Arkansas and the mighty Mississippi!  Be blessed!
