Western Trip 2020, Oct. 21-22

 October 21-22, 2020

Drive from Julian Price National Park to New River State Park on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

The sun is rising over Price Lake as we prepare for another day on the road. The drive today isn't that long, but we'll make some stops along the way.

There is a lot involved in getting Little House ready to go, but Paul always seems to take it in stride and never complains.  (This tire is heavy!)

One last look.

The Blue Ridge Parkway.

We visited Jefferson and West Jefferson.

It was hot when we first got to New River, but it soon cooled down.

An absolutely gorgeous night, cool enough for a fire and supper around the campfire. The moon is unbelievably beautiful as we prepare to head in for the night.

There was a heavy fog this morning when we woke up, so we slept in a little.  Today is my sister Faye's birthday, so I called and wished her a happy birthday and talked to her awhile.

The spiders are very busy in the shrubbery and trees around Little House.

We spent a leisurely morning just hanging out at our site.
After lunch we did a three-mile hike to the New River and back.

Walking through the woods is so peaceful.  It's one of my favorite things to do.

New River.

It was a beautiful trail through the woods to the river, and the weather was gorgeous!  We had supper around the campfire again tonight. We've been many places, but we love calling North Carolina home. Tomorrow, we'll be a little ways down the road to another campground on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Goodnight, everyone.  God bless.

Western Trip 2020, Oct. 19-20

 October 19-20

From Cumberland Mountain State Park, TN, to Julian Price National Park, NC

Last look at Cumberland Mountain State Park, TN.

The rest of the drive through Tennessee was beautiful and looked a lot like North Carolina.

There are a lot of Christmas tree farms in western NC.

The trees have lost a lot of their colorful leaves, but the mountains are beautiful and peaceful no matter what time of the year we come.

Our camping spot for the next two nights.  It's located right on Price Lake.  A beautiful spot indeed, but there aren't many place to access the lake from the campground.

Price Lake

Once we checked in we drove to Blowing Rock to have a look around and get some lunch and dinner combined since it was getting late in the day.

The park at Blowing Rock.
We ordered take-out from the Town Tavern on Main Street, Blowing Rock
and took it back to the RV to eat.

This was our view while we waiting outside the restaurant for our food to be prepared.

A classic Mercedes-Benz!  A lot of people stopped to oooh and aah at this beauty.

After lunch we drove back to Julian Price and set up camp.  There are no hookups at any of the sites here and there are very few large enough to accommodate an RV.  Most of the sites close to the lake are for tent camping only.

When we awoke on Tuesday morning, it was a very brisk 47 degrees!  We couldn't turn on the generator for heat until 8:00 a.m., so we just slept in until then.  It was a very needed rest after being on the road for so many days straight.  After breakfast it was time for a hike around the lake.

The afternoon consisted of relaxing outside, Paul cooking on the grill, and watching wildlife.

We stayed out until the sky turned red and then dark.  Then it was time to head inside for some supper, a movie, and bedtime.  And we get to do this all over again tomorrow.  We are so blessed!

Tomorrow we'll still be in the mountains of North Carolina except at a different park. Night all.
