Western Trip 2020, Sept 10

 September 10

An early start at 4:00 a.m.  More sensor troubles!  The brake light warning came on and we couldn't get out of first gear--on winding back roads in total darkness!  We went several miles that way because there was no where to pull off.  We finally found an intersection and stopped, shut it off, and waited to see if it would reset.  Nope.  Continued on, in first gear. Finally, out in the middle of this farm country, we came upon a little country church that had lights on in its parking lot.  We pulled in and stopped.  And prayed. And waited.  About twenty minutes later, we tried again.  The brake sensors had reset themselves this time and we were able to continue on in the proper gear.  We were glad to see the sun coming up. God is good!

We got to Mercedez-Benz in Louisville just as the sun was peeping up over the parking lot.

Stacy and Rich from Mercedez came on out and got our information and then it wasn't much longer that they took it on back to work on it.  Mercedez dealerships always have very nice waiting rooms, so we were comfortable while waiting.  The brake sensors were reading that we were going 65,000 MPH!  Paul said I was driving and blamed it on me.  Yes, I know I like to drive fast but not THAT fast!  So, the brake sensor definitely had to be replaced.  They checked the DEF sensor and said it wouldn't reset until after it was 94% full.  So, they put DEF in and reset it instead of changing it.  All done! We thought!  We left to go get a quick bite of lunch before heading over to Tom Stinnett's RV to get the propane checked out.  We didn't even get a mile down the road before the wheel sensor alarms came on again.  We went back and they had to change a second brake sensor that showed it had a history of fault.  Stayed another hour while they changed the second one.  We had to be at the RV place by 1:30, so no lunch for us.

After checking in here, we waited a while for the propane man to come out.  He finally took it back to check it over.  After a while, he told Paul the regulator was bad and needed to be replaced.  It took the rest of the afternoon until about 4:30 for him to fix it.  So, after many hours and dollars later for the regulator, we were finally on the way back to Nolin State Park.  Of course, by now it's rush hour, so we didn't want to stop in downtown Louisville to get something to eat so we just headed on out.

We stopped after awhile and got a quick bite at an Arby's and got right back on the road.  Needless to say, there wasn't a whole lot of conversation on the way back.  We were exhausted!  I was to the point of hysteria, and for those of you who've seen me at that point, well . . .  I'll just leave it at that.  We finally got back to Nolin about 6:30 and crashed!  It was a long, hard day, but we were so blessed to be able to get both the Mercedez part and the Winnebago coach part of our problems fixed on the same day in the same city.  We were so thankful for that.
