Day 5, June 7--Fargo, ND to Rapid City, SD

Well, quite an eventful day.  Another LONG drive with a slight detour to the emergency room in Watertown, SD.  We had stopped at a travel store just outside of Watertown, SD.  The girls and I had gone in to use the restroom and to get a SD key chain for my collection.  It was extremely windy!  So windy, in fact, that it was hard to see because our hair was blowing all over our faces.  Another thing that added to the drama of the moment was the fact that there was no yellow line painted on the edge of the curb in front of the store.  The yellow line was painted on the cement BELOW the curb.  Duh???  What purpose did that serve on the parking lot instead of the curb????  Well, guess who didn't see the edge?  I'll give you two guesses and the first two won't count.  You guessed it.  Charity.  She took a very hard fall onto the cement and turned her ankle over, scraped her shoulder, bruised her knee, and bent her sunglasses.  Her foot was hurt the worst.  It wasn't her foot that she had surgery on, thankfully.  We spent about an hour in the emergency room seeing the doctor and getting an x-ray.  He put her foot in a stabilizer, and we were on our way again.

We stopped briefly in Pepin, SD where Laura Ingalls Wilder and her family lived.

We also drove through the Badlands on our way to Rapid City.  Absolutely beautiful!!!  Not quite as magnificent as the Grand Canyon but still awe-inspiring just the same.  Our God is truly an awesome God!  His creation is truly wonderful.

We made a quick stop at Walls Drug Store in Wall, SD.  It wasn't quite what I had imagined.  I thought it would be like Mast Drug Store in our mountains, but it wasn't.  It was more like a mini-mall with a western theme.

We are very thankful to be in our hotel.
