Hiking Arches National Park, Moab, Utah (Post # 4)

Today has been an absolutely glorious day!  By glorious I mean that Paul and I have been in constant reminder of the glory of God!  These first couple of pictures are just a sample of what we see as we drive up the mountain in Arches National Park.  If you don't know already, make sure to click on the link to the right called More Photos and see other pictures that Paul posts to go along with these.

These are just a couple of the many natural arches here in the Park.

The first hiking trails we took were to Sand Dune Arch and Broken Arch.
The first picture is Sand Dune Arch.  It's called this because the soil in and out of here is like red sand except where it is red rock.

This is Broken Arch.  They say it really isn't broken, though, just cracked.

This is also Broken Arch except this was taken from around the other side.

We got up early to beat the crowds and the heat.
This trail is easy in some places and not so easy in some--to me at least.

This was our morning hike. It took us about two hours to hike these two trails.
From here we went to a section of the park called Windows.  It was so crowded we could not find a place to park and there were so many people there that we decided to go back to the RV park and do some laundry and some housekeeping chores.

Our Late Afternoon Hike
We went back up the mountain to hike Windows when it was cooler and less crowded.
There were only a few people on this trail to these arches and windows.  Once we hiked up to these arches, we decided to hike what they called the primitive trail around the back side of the arches and through two mountains.  And yes, it was very primitive, but we got some beautiful pictures.  It took us about two and a half hours to do this trail and the sun was beginning to set by the time we got out.  We had this trail all to ourselves because I guess not many people were wanting to hike the primitive trail.

Our hiking day came to a close with this beautiful sunset.

The hike to Delicate Arch and Devil's Garden are both beautiful hikes, but we did these a few years ago and didn't have time for them this year.
Arches National Park is such a beautiful place!
